Bible Drill is a discipleship program for children and youth. The purpose of Bible Drill is to help increase a believer’s knowledge of the Bible, to develop skills in effectively handling the Bible, to learn how to apply the Bible to their life and to develop scripture memory skills. Louisiana Baptists offer Children, Youth, and High School Bible Drill and Youth Speaker’s Tournament.

1. Bible Drills are designed to assist. The design is to use this tool to develop useful skills and knowledge of the Bible. This tool is used to learn to meditate on the Bible by hiding Scripture within us for our personal edification and for the defense and proper witness of our faith to a world in need.

2. Bible Drills teaches poise and self-confidence. Drills take time, commitment, and courage. This requires an environment with loving, Spirit-filled, patient, and engaging teachers in the class and at home. Couple those elements with the drills: learning to find books of the Bible, locating Scripture references, identifying selected verses from given clues, and using Scripture references to document basic beliefs and ethical convictions.

3. Bible Drills ultimately teaches how to use the Book of Life to make a difference for today and tomorrow. Further, a genuine love for God’s Word and God himself is the prize.
